![]() We always have those stints in our music career where we lose focus on what we love to do, which is to make music. There are times I see cats that drop hot tracks years ago but gave up to do other things after the buzz died down and/or they ran out of ideas. I just thought of some ways to help out the young musician who needs ideas on how to stay focus on their music career 1) Eat, Love and Pray This one may sound weird, but you need to do this. Your body is your temple so you must treat it with respect. You have to eat good and nutritious food. Try eating fish, wheat and fruits and vegetables. This will allow you to have more energy and resist fatigue. The reality is, more musicians have jobs and music is a side hustle. You need to be alter when you work on your music after your day at the office. These foods should help. When you show love to people, they will show it back on an even plane or in a bigger way. You must not be afraid to show support for others because how will you make new fans and new connections? Music is something that needs to be shared with everyone, not just yourself (unless you are a bedroom producer). Also it is valuable to pray and keep faith because prayer will calm your soul and will sub-consciously teach your mind to not obsess over things. I myself have started praying again. 2) Take Feedback and Criticism (Don't Be Afraid to Do This) I find this one to be the biggest obstacle out of this list. You need to take feedback and criticism properly and professionally. Without these things you will not be successful (that's just being straight up honest). Feedback and criticism are very important because it will allow you to see what mistakes you made and what things you can improve on. The one thing I find is that most musicians are scared to hear what other people think about their music. This fear needs to be eliminated because you are going to present your music to people, and people have opinions and taste. 3) Find A Hobby Outside of Music This may sound counterintuitive but this one definitely needs to be done. After you decide to make your music your career is no longer becomes a hobby. Having a hobby is very healthy for your mind and your body. A good hobby would be playing video games or exercising. Having a hobby will let you be less stressed about working on music as well as working at your job. You should only resort to a hobby when you feel like you need to sleep or be lethargic. Other than that you have to be working on your music when you're not at work. 4) Quality over Quantity This is a big problem I always see musicians trying to make it a numbers game. Whether it is to have the most YouTube views, Facebook likes, or Twitter followers, at the end of the day it's the quality of the Fanbase that matters instead of the quantity. This is a fairly simple one don't invest in buying units numbers are earned they are not made. Focus on putting out good quality material in order to attract good fans because think about it like this, if you aren't getting close to 75% of downloads from a CD with 700 Twitter followers, what makes you think you can reach even 50% of downloads with a million followers? Well I hope this article helped you out. Again these are just opinions not factual information. If you find this article beneficial please do use it. I wish you all the best in your success! - CSum
