So I found a very interesting article that you might be interested in reading. Since Hip Hop has changed so much over the years, so has the message. It went from endearing and empowering people (predominantly African Americans/People of Color) to mainly flashing material things, and falsifying lifestyles. A genre that has went from groovy to ratchet in 40 years, there are only a few handful of artists trying to keep the early/glory days alive.
In this article, psychologist Dr. Nelson Harrison (who also plays Trumpet too) analyzes the Hip Hop Music today and reveals to us that it is correct that the most popular music coming out of Hip Hop is embedding/programming violence into children (aka the next generation) with its violent/abrasive/misogynistic lyrics and hard hitting/eerie Hip Hop Beats.
